The flag of Kenya was adopted on December 12 of 1963. It is based on the flag of KANU (Kenya African National Union), the flag that lead the fight for freedom and independence. The colors symbol black for majority, red for blood, and green for wealth. The defense of freedom is symbolized by a Masai shield and two spears.
